my advice would be to do weights on the off days and to do a weight regimen of light weight and high reps. in my mind, this would help your muscle strength and endurance during the long sets and you wanna do sets that mimic or transfer that movement into swimming. if you wanna take it a step further, look for those swim snorkels that go up the center of your face that way you don’t even need to worry about breathing – just your arms and rotation. you may want to start out lifting heavier (3×10/12) for a couple weeks before going light and addung a heavy session once in a while. if you wait until after your swim you will have a more honest appraisal of what you will be able to accomplish that day and will be less likely to over do it.
