we opened susumuʻs fishing tackle in march of 2021. we have worked hard to achieve this dream of turning something we love into a full-time business. it was a blessing in disguise as it gave me time to reflect on things. my wife and i came to realize that we wanted to invest in a business that would support the local community for many years to come.
he taught me how to respect the ocean and all that it provides for us. although papa susumu passed away from cancer in september of 2001, we are honored to name our store after him and be able to carry on the values he instilled in me as a child. our goal and main focus is to support our local fishing families as they practice fishing traditions that will passed on from generation to generation. we are surrounded by a community of talented people that each has a unique skill set to offer. i like to think of our store as more than just a place to buy supplies.
