you’d probably want to be training 4 plus days a week, dieting,doing strength and conditioning etc. i have my fourth ammy fight coming up soon, and i have 2 year of mma experience but a good few yers of grappling experience. at my club that seems to be the standard way to go, and i’d like to compete at some point on an average week, i train 6.5 hours of bjj, 6.5 hours of kali/silat, 2 hours of muay thai, 2 hours of mma, and 2 hours of jkd. plus, i like to lift weights at the gym for around 4-5 hours a week. it’s not that i’m thinking about competing or anything like that, it’s more that i tend to get very depressed in the absence of regular exercise, and this has been a great way to at least partially stave off my depression and anxiety. maybe enter some no gi grappling tournaments to get used to the competition intensity a bit more. if it’s just time at the gym doing martial arts, two hours a week. we have class 4 days a week for 2.5 hours a pop, so that’s the baseline. every couple of weeks i get together with our other coach and play with stuff for a few hours on a saturday. i’m working my way up to 1/2 an hour to 1 hour a day training by myself after work, 6 days a week.
one 1.5 hour lesson a week at the moment where i am drenched in sweat by the end of it. my old team had grappling tuesday and thursday, then muay thai monday and wednesday. takedown practice was after grappling, making it a wopping 6 hours of instructed practice. they’re one of the better teams in the area with a couple amateur champions. with that said, i also trained at a gracie gym with pro champions. i got 16 hours a week and i was just stand up, just an amateur. if you out last the other guy, you can take control and beat on him effortlessly. get into the best shape of your life, don’t ever slack on cardio! compared to say bantamweight that look like crack heads the whole fight. taekwondo 4 days a week (monday-thursday) 1.5 hours every time. it’s winter now so i got kind of lazy but in the summer i also like to run atleast 4-5 times a week (about 13 kilometers each time, i got a sweet route through the forest and around town).
